us or our?

‘Nitpick’ does not mean ‘remove’. It means scrutinize to find all details.
‘Over’ is just about possible there, and so is ‘at’.

However, James’s version, "I am not nitpicking’ is more fluent than any of the other suggestions made.

Anglophile:

Thank you very much for your interesting comments.

Excuse this late acknowledgment.

I often have trouble logging in. And when I AM able to post a comment, the system often repeats the comment. Today, it repeated one of my comments 8 times! (Yes, 8 times!) It took me a long time to delete the duplicates.

(I am now going to press the “send message” button. Wish me luck!)

Hi Anglophile,

I tried to substitute “usage” in my sentence.

  1. My opinion is that using “they” instead of “he or she”, it means as a genderless singular pronoun, is awfully wrong utilisation.

Any better?

Hi James, try to use another mouse.

No. It sounds as if you are trying to use a long word for the sake of doing so, and have made a poor choice.

Anyway, as explained before, it’s not ‘wrong’ simply because you don’t like it.

James’s mouse does not have any bearing on the problems posting to the forum.

Please press the ‘Send message’ button only once. You may have to wait until you are taken back to the page. If it takes more than the reasonable time, say half a minute, let it go undisturbed. Meanwhile you may open another tab on your browser and check your post, and ‘refresh’ it. Your post will have appeared there, mostly. Usually, the post will multiply as many times as we press the button (out of impatience) or when it keeps ‘hanging’. I know you are also aware of the ‘Delete’ option provided for deleting your answers.

Your mouse is perfect as long as it shows you the moving cursor.

Thank you, E2e4, Anglophile, and Beeesneees, for your kind advice.

In fact, I do press “Send message” only once. And I wait and wait and wait. Sometimes the screen will then say something to the effect that the site does not exist! Or maybe something called “Timeout.”

Another member told me in a private message that maybe the problem is the data base (whatever that is! See, I really am computer illiterate!).

THANKS again.

James

UPDATE (4:02 a.m.):

It happened again! I have just deleted 7 duplicates! Yes, 7! I kid you not!

When you see ‘time out’ etc, please refresh/reload the page. Your post may have been there already. I experienced this problem, too. Then I tried it and was surprised to see the message actually sent. Wish you good luck, James! And never ever say that you are computer illiterate. Hardly can a man like me digest it, really.

Thanks a lot, Anglophile.
