You can only learn English if you listen to a lot of English. So the question is how much time do you spend listening to English conversations, reports, audio books, stories, etc. every single day? If you find it difficult to memorize new vocabulary (not ‘vocabularies’), you need to increase the amount of ‘English audio input’ (the amount of time you spend on listening to English’. That’s pretty much the only way you can learn new vocabulary.[YSaerTTEW443543]
Hi, Mr Torsten:
Your topic is a common subject under discussion in many conversations between people who want to learn english.
Do you think english is difficult? I’ve been learning english since i was in class 6 and now i’m a second year student majoring in english but my ability to speak english is so limited. Sometimes i feel disappointed, but the cause lies in my way of learning english-too much attention to grammar and theory but little practice. So, I think to learn english as well as other languages best is to practise it as much as possible. People say learing language requires patience, so this is true if someone know how to bring it to life. I think it’s lucky for those who live a country using english as a second langauge. However many people in my country are successful in learning english, perhaps they are really keen on english and have a good way of self-study.
In my opinion, learing english through newspapers, televion or radio can help english-learners improve their pronunciation and vocabulary faster.
Have a good weekend!

HI! I use ABBY LINGVO program when I discover internet space. It’s very simple for me, because when I see new word, I just click on it and ABBY give me many variants of translation and definition of this word. Some people recomendated to read scientist sites because there are a lot of new inetersting information and new words.
I have come back to website www.english-test.net and see you again. Many people as me usually make the question that how to learn English with best effect. I would like to tell you some ways which i have applied to study.
First, I often spend more than 1 hour per day to listen English: Early, I get up and listen a little information on TV with Asian Channel about 10 minutes, then I go to work; after have a lunch, I also try to listen something in BBC radio about 30 minutes; and finally, I watch TV a few minutes before go to bed. It’s an important that you have a happy or fun to study English and it becomes easier to you.
Second, I take part in the other course to practice different skill: reading, public speaking, writing, … They will be supported together, and I will find the answer for some questions which I can’t understand before.
Third, any free time, I try to read more and more from English Book, news and other information such as health, animal, technique material … which i like to read. It helps me improve knowledge, learn skills in my life, update news in around the world and study new words.
The result is that i feel more confident in English than last year a lot. Hope you can study it better than I do.
Hi Torsten!
From my point of view the best way of learning Enlish is begin to study it with experienced coach who will tech him/her basic grammar rules. Moreover It is very important to have coach who will correct mistakes at beginning of the study English.
And he/her can selfstudy after some period of time.
As for me I try to read English articles to watch movies with subtitles, to listen audio files and of course to talk with my friends in english.
Best wishes
Oybek

Hi
To my opinion the best way to learn English is to use all the oppertunities to speak in this language and to watch films with subtitles. And also a very important point, always look through our passed lessons.

็Hi Torsten
It’s a good title of “How to learn English?” which i have tried to learn it long time. But right now still not good, especially pronunciation, hearing and English grammar. Currently, I play English in e-mail for the most due to I’m working for the international company. But the foreign people need to learn the local language, so normally we communicate in Thai language. Now I look forward to chat with someone to share the experience and improve my English ability.
Note : Unfortunately, Nowadays the job in my responsibility so busy…
Hello Torsten,
I want to let you know that my way of learning isn’t unique. It is very slow and simple. When I start learning things I usually go research as read the news paper, read all the post from the forum and watching/listening news everyday. I watch at least one episode from any English sitcom every day. It helps me to get new ideas, fashion, environment and off course as well as Idioms and Phrases. Personally, I enjoyed a lot TV programs. After that, I remember all the things didn’t understand and look them up. This is my habit If I don’t understand any thing I ask immediately with out hesitation .I write every thing down and then go over them until I know it .So I can say I am the person who can concentrate for a long period. However It is effective.
Your idea 30/30 is truly very effective according to my experience. Since, I learned to speak my mother tongue hearing the conversation of my parents. Each and everyones’ experience, in this matter, will be the same, I am sure about that. So to speak hearing and listening are indispensable. Without hearing and listening none can succeed in speaking. That is the truth, the one and only truth according to language training.
