Hello,

this is my new audio book report.

with reference to my last report I get something straight:

At frist Commander Stratmore had bypassed the translater and this path should be deleted.

Susan knocked Greg Hale out.

OK. Back to the story. While Susan was looking for the Commander at Node 3 Greg Hale left his office and disappeared on the floor.

Midge Milken a security analyst from the director the NSA Fortaine notice at the Crypto report controlling a 999.999.999 $ code. She supposed that the translater breaked down or it was a virus. She informed the NSA senior Sys-sec Jabba, but didn?t believe her, but he tell her, that Stratmore is able to bypassed the translater. She broak into the NSA director?s office, but only there she got a printout from the translater proceedings. She found out, that it was truth. While she was in the office, the director come back from his holliday and he was very angree about the situation.

Hi Katrin

Here are my suggestions:

Victoria wants to demonstrate how antimatter reacts with matter. Kohler is afraid they won’t be able to control this, but Victoria asserts herself and convinces him.

They leave the room. Once outside, they watch the window. There is an explosion inside and a dazzling light can be seen. Kohler wants to know whether that was all the anitmatter they have.

Victoria says no - they have a bigger sample secured in Hazmat, a lab fifty meters underground. Kolher wants to see this and they go into the Hazmat lab.

What Victoria sees on the scanner is frightening. She sees blood and then an eyeball. From the colour of the eyeball she realizes that it’s her father’s eye. She opens door to the lab. The sample has been stolen.

After the demonstration Victoria wants to her father and she wants to call Interpol. But Kohler doesn’t want to do this. He wants to protect her father. If the world found out what they’d been doing, it wouldn’t be good for Vetra.

Kohler’s secretary receives a very important call for Kohler. Kohler tells the caller to meet him at the airport. Then he tells Langdon and Victoria that they are to fly to Rome.

Once on the plane, Langdon tells Victoria about the Illuminati. After landing in Rome, they drive around and see a lot of TV camera vans in town. They find out that a papal conclave is in progress in Rome. The pope had died two weeks before.

Then they are driven to St. Peter’s Cathedral where they are received. They are led into the rooms under the watchful eyes of security cameras.

Victoria sees antimatter on camera eighty six. There are only six hours left until the explosion. Then they have to go into an office where they have to wait for the next step.

Inside the Sistine Chapel the cardinals are waiting for the beginning the conclave. Some cardinals are becoming nervous. Four of the main papal candidates are missing. The Swiss Guard have not been able to find the four cardinals so far.

Amy

Hi Heike

Thanks for the clarification.

Here are my suggestions for your report:

While Susan was looking for the Commander at Node 3, Greg Hale left his office and disappeared from that floor. (Do you mean he left that floor of the building or do you mean he disappeared from a particular office or room?)

Midge Milken, a security analyst at the NSA Fortaine, noticed a 999.999.999 $ code on the Crypto report. She supposed that the translator had broken down or that there was a virus.

She informed the NSA senior Sys-sec Jabba, but he didn’t believe her. He told her that Stratmore was able to bypass the translator.

She broke into the NSA director?s office, but she was only able to get a printout of the translator activities.

She found out that what she’d been told was the truth. While she was in the office, the director came back from his holliday and he was very angry about the situation.

Victoria isn?t happy that they are must waiting for the next stepp in an office. She wants to call the Camerlengo and takes the phone at the office. But on the other line isn?t the Camerlengo, it?s the switching center. The man on this line don?t understand what Victoria want.
The Swiss Guard, in its office Victiria and Langdon must wait, it?s very sour. He must bring Victoria and Langdon to the Camerlengo.
Victoria tells the Camerlengo about the the can of antimatter. The antimatter must be somewhere in the Vatikan city. It?s only a drip, but with a large effect. The drip of antimatter can can blow up the whole Vatikan city.
The Camerlengo wants that all men of the Swiss Guards look for the antimatter.
Than the Camerlengo gets a call from an anonymous caller.

Hi Katrin

Here are my suggestions:

Victoria isn?t happy that they have to wait for the next step in an office. She wants to call the Camerlengo and uses the phone in the office.

But the Camerlengo isn’t at the other end of line. Instead she finds herself talking to the switchboard and the man on the line doesn?t understand what Victoria wants.

Vittoria and Langdon have to wait in the office of one of the Swiss Guard and he is very annoyed. He has to take Victoria and Langdon to the Camerlengo.

Victoria tells the Camerlengo about the the canister of antimatter. The antimatter must be somewhere in Vatican City.

It?s only a drop, but just this one drop of antimatter can blow up all of the Vatican City. The Camerlengo wants all of the men in the Swiss Guard to look for the antimatter.

Then the Camerlengo receives an anonymous call…

I’m looking forward to your next report, Katrin.

Hello,

the story goes on:

On the flight to the NASA discovery Rachel remembers her mother. She died on Thanks Giving day a few years ago. Because of Rachels late flight and her father convincing a lot of work, they hadn’t been with her for the traditional lunch and she died in an accident on the street. When Rachel had arrived, the police had been already in their home and her father was giving an interview to the press. Up till now Rachel is accusing her father to be guilty on the death of her mother.

Rachel recognizes that they are flying across the polar cycle and wonders where they are flying to. The only thing she can see ist ice. Then the plane begins to land and Rachel is very frightened about that. Down on the ice, there is nothing else she could see. The pilot leaves her and flies back. So Rachel has to trust the driver of a Pathfinder to lead her to the administrator of NASA and follows him in his car. They drive two miles and arrive at an Ice Dome. They switch through a smal door at the side.

In the meantime Magery Tesch (?) has a conversation with president Herney at the White House. She’s going to take part at the press conference this evening. Herney doesn’t agree. He doesn’t want to put to much importance to Sextons conference. If Magery takes part it would show that Herney is concerning the news of Sexton. Another point is that Magery is not made to be on TV because she is not very atractive. But she is the right one to work behind the scenes. Margery leaves no doubt on Herney she will take part.

In the ice dome Rachel meets Lorence Extrum (?) the administrator of NASA. Exrum explains that he trusts and respects the President. And only because of that he lets Rachel in. He doesn’t trust her because her father Senator Sexton is fighting angainst his agency. Then he checks her knowledge about EOS. The discovery is an enormous rock a few hundred meters below the ice. It’s a meteorite. Rachel is disapointed. That should be all? But Extrum explains that not the size is the discovery but the material wich is covered with snow for 300 years now.

Regards
Vivien

Hi Vivien

Here are my suggestions for your latest report:

While flying to the site of NASA’s discovery, Rachel remembers her mother, who died on Thanksgiving Day a few years ago.

Because Rachel’s flight home had been delayed and her father claimed he couldn’t come home because he had too much work in Washington, they hadn’t been with her for the traditional Thanksgiving meal. Rachel’s mother died in a car accident that day .

When Rachel finally arrived at the house, the police were already there and her father was giving an interview to the press. Ever since that day Rachel has blamed her father for her mother’s death.

Rachel’s thoughts come back to the present. She realizes that they are flying across the Arctic Circle and wonders where they could possibly be flying to. The only thing she can see is ice.

Then the plane begins its landing descent and Rachel is very frightened about that. Below her there is nothing to see but ice. After landing, the pilot leaves her and flies back.

So Rachel has to trust the driver of an IceRover (which looks something like the Mars Pathfinder) to take her to the administrator of NASA. She gets into the IceRover and they drive two miles to an Ice Dome. They stop near a small door at the side.

In the meantime Marjorie Tench is having a conversation with President Herney at the White House. She’s going to take part in a televised debate this evening.

Herney thinks it’s a bad idea and doesn’t want to place too much importance on a debate with someone from Sexton’s campaign. If Marjorie takes part, it will indicate that Herney is worried about debating Sexton’s issues.

Another point is that Majorie is not good on TV because she is particularly unattractive. She is better working behind the scenes. But Marjorie convinces Herney that she should take part in the debate.

At the ice dome Rachel meets Lawrence Ekstrom, the administrator of NASA. Ekstrom explains that it is only because he trusts and respects the President that he agreed to allow Rachel to come.

He doesn’t trust Rachel because her father, Senator Sexton, is campaigning hard against his agency. Then Ekstrom asks Rachel how much she knows about EOS.

NASA’s big discovery turns out to be an enormous rock a few hundred meters below the ice. It’s a meteorite. Rachel is disappointed. Is that all?

Ekstrom explains that it is not the phsical size of the discovery that’s so important, but rather what it consists of and the fact that it has been covered by ice and snow for 300 years now.

The injured girl that he’d met asked him for money. She told him that she had tried to fly home to her parents in the USA, but she had lost her money and couldn?t pay for the flight.

Because of her injury Becker thought she was lying and that she only needed the money for drugs. When he noticed that the girl’s hair was white, red and blue, he knew that she was the punk girl he was looking for.

He wanted to ask her about the ring, but she thought he was just trying to annoy her.(?) She fired a stream of pepper spray into his eyes and Becker dropped to the floor.

Hello

this is my new report about “Digital Fortress”.

Susan Flechter was looking for the commander and she found him in his office. She saw that he got a gun. He told her that he got somethings straight. He confessed that he decrypted Tankados e-mail two months ago. At first he thougt a unbreakable code is impossible, but Tankado sounded more details and he must realized “anyone couldn?t stop Digital Fortress”. For this reason he had a idea, when he couldn?t stop Tankado he musted change the code. His plan was simple. When he get the pastkey he could unlock a copy of Digital Fortress and than he inserted a modification. In this manner the NSA could use Digital Fortress for own purpose. He planned to facilitate the release of a unbreakable algorithm. Everone would switch to Digital Fortress, because they thought the NSA couldn?t break him. In truth the NSA is able to do this.

Hi Heike

Here are my suggestions:

Susan Fletcher was looking for the commander and she found him in his office. She noticed that he had a gun. He told her that he had straightened some things out.

He confessed that he had decrypted Tankados e-mail two months before. At first he thought an unbreakable code to be impossible, but after Tankado provided further details, he realized “anyone could color=blue stop Digital Fortress”. [color=blue](Was this supposed to be a direct quote, Heike? Do you mean “anybody could” or “nobody could”? Or was the quote something like this: “There wasn’t anyone who couldn’t…”)

For this reason, he came up with an idea: If he couldn?t stop Tankado, then he had to change the code. His plan was simple.

When he got the passkey, he would be able to unlock a copy of Digital Fortress and then insert a modification. In this manner the NSA would be able to use Digital Fortress for own purposes.

He planned to facilitate the release of a unbreakable algorithm. Everyone would switch to Digital Fortress because they thought the NSA couldn?t break the code. But in truth, the NSA would be able to do this.

[color=blue]Question: I wrote my suggested corrections assuming that the commander doesn’t actually have the passkey yet. Is that correct?

Grammar notes:

  • The German word “m?ssen” = have to (past tense: had to)
  • The word “must” has no past tense form

Hello to everyone,

In the Ice Dome Rachel gets to know scientist Corky Marlint (?) and tv actor Mike Talent (?). Talent has the task to produce a documentry about the discovery for the public. Both want to explain the discovery to Rachel now.

At the same time Gabrielle Ash wonders about the presence of Marjorie Tench at the televised debate. She warns Sexton to be careful. But Sexton’s self confidence pushes all doupts away.

Corky Marlint explains three types of meteorites and it’s consists by a piece of rock to Rachel. She holds the rocks against the light and sees little pieces glistening in the stone like little bubbles. Rachel is astonished. Now Corky reaches her a piece of the discovery. Unlike the others it’s white and looks like a disk. When Corky orders her to move it she sees a bug on the other side of the piece. It’s a fossil with seven foot pairs.

At the televised debate Tench commends no news. She denies a meeting of President Herney and the administrator of NASA. Tench tries to change the subject of the debate but Sexton helds on. She decides to ask Sexton to decide if he goes further on or quit NASA after election. In the background Gabrielle’s horrows come true. She hopes Sexton would find an answer of compromise. But Sexton says he would abolish NASA.

Yours
Vivien

Hi Vivien

Here are my suggestions. (I’ve also given you the spellings of the names for some of the new characters.)

Inside the Ice Dome, Rachel is introduced to scientist Corky Marlinson and TV star Mike Tolland. (Corky Marlinson is a respected astrophysicist. Michael Tolland is an oceanographer who produces very popular TV documentaries.)

Tolland has been given the task of producing a documentry about NASA’s discovery for the public. Both men want to explain the discovery to Rachel now.

Meanwhile, Gabrielle Ashe wonders why Marjorie Tench is going to participate in the televised debate. She warns Sexton to be careful, but his self-confidence pushes all doubt away.

Back at the Ice Dome, Corky Marlinson explains to Rachel three types of meteorites and what they consist of . He hands her a piece of rock to examine. She holds the rock up to the light and sees little pieces glistening in the stone like little bubbles

Rachel is astonished. Then Corky hands her a piece of the discovery. Unlike the other rocks, it’s white and looks like a disk

When Corky tells her to turn this piece of rock over, she sees a bug on the other side. It’s a fossil of an insect with seven pairs of legs.

At the televised debate, Tench has no comment about any news. She denies that President Herney and the administrator of NASA have recently had a meeting.

Tench tries to change the subject of the debate, but Sexton persists. She decides to ask Sexton if he were elected: Would he allow NASA to continue or would he abolish NASA? Backstage, Gabrielle watches in horror as her worst fears about the debate come true.

She hopes Sexton will give a compromise answer. But he recklessly says that he would abolish NASA.

Hello,

here is my new report about “Angels & Demons”:

The anonymous caller introduces himself to Camerlengo as messenger Illuminati. He tells the Illuminati will destroy the Vatikan City at midnight. Langdon and Victoria experienced that four cardinaeles disappeared. One cardinal to be murdered per hour. The listeners of the telephone call are frightened. The other cardinaeles begin to miss the four caridnaeles and become nervous.
The Camerlengo wants to evacuate the caridnaeles. But the Swiss gardist didn?t this. He wants to find the bomb before midnight.

The anonymous caller calls to the BBC. He had a big story about the Pope choice.

Langdon and victioria consider what they can do. Langdon had an idea. He wants in the vatikan archives. The Camerlengo hesitates but then he gives Langon the permission. Langdon wants to search a book of Galileo. He has made four sculptures for the church. But he was an Illuminati, too. So must have the sculptures the four signs of the science: earth, air, fire and water. This four signs were guides to the Illuminati. Only who found these away could become an Illuminati.

Best regards
Katrin

Hi Katrin

Here are my suggestions. I had a bit of trouble with your last two sentences (see my questions at the end).

The anonymous caller introduces himself to the Camerlengo as a messenger for the Illuminati. He says that the Illuminati are going to destroy Vatican City at midnight.

Langdon and Victoria also find out that four cardinals have been kidnapped and that one cardinal is to be murdered per hour.

The people listening to the telephone call are frightened. The other cardinals are becoming nervous because they’ve begun to notice that four caridnals seem to be missing.

The Camerlengo wants to evacuate all the caridnals. But the Swiss Guard doesn’t want to do this. He wants to find the bomb before midnight.

The anonymous caller calls the BBC saying he has a big story regarding the papal election.

Langdon and Victioria consider what they can possibly do. Langdon has an idea, but in order to carry out his idea, he needs access to the Vatican archives.

The Camerlengo hesitates but then gives Langdon permission. Langdon wants to look for a book by Galileo. He had made four sculptures for the church, but he had also been an Illuminati.

Therefore, the four sculptures must have the four symbols of science: earth, air, fire and water. These four symbols were guides to the Illuminati.

[color=blue]I wasn’t 100% sure what you meant by “guides to the Illuminati”. Did you mean that “the ability to find the symbols was an indication of who would be allowed to become an Illuminati”? [color=blue]Or did you mean that “these symbols lead to the Illuminati”?

[color=blue]I also had a little trouble understanding your last sentence (mainly because of the word “away”). Did you mean “Only people who could find the symbols on the four sculptures could become Illuminati”?

Amy

Hi Amy,

sorry that you not understand my last two sentences.
I hope you understand me, now:

These symbols lead to the Illuminati, but you must find the symbols step by step around to Illuminati to come.
Yes, only people who could find the symbols on the four sculptures could become Illuminati.

Thank you an d bye, bye
Katrin

Dear Amy,

this is my new report about “Digital Fortress”.

In my opinion it is correct, that the commander doesn?t have the passkey yet. Because of your other suggestion I mean “anybody could”.

The story goes on:

Susan Flechter got the order to find the passkey in Hale?s computer and so she went in his office. While she was searching in his accout, she noticed that she isn?t allone. Hale overpowered Susan and took she hostage. He called the commander and demanded his gun or he killed Susan. Hale knew the commander?s plans about Digital Fortress and so he assumed the commander complied in (?). But the commander called the NSA-securityservice and told that Hales took his head cryptographer hostage and the Hale had killed the NSA junior sys-sec. Hales feared the security make a run of the office and killed him. He escaped with Susan on the staircase, but the commanders call was a trick he hadn?t called the security. While Hale went down stair he realized his mistake, but it was to late. The commander overpowered him on the bottom and saved Susan.

Regards Heike

Hi Heike

Thanks for the clarification.

Here are my suggestions for you latest report. Take a special look at the sentence in blue. Is that what happened?

Susan Fletcher was instructed to find the passkey in Hale?s computer, so she went to his office. While she was searching his computer files, she noticed that she wasn?t alone.

Hale overpowered Susan and took her hostage. [color=blue]Hale said he would kill Susan if the commander didn’t hand over his gun (??).

Hale knew the commander?s plans for Digital Fortress and so he assumed the commander would comply (with his demand).

But the commander called the NSA security service and told them that Hale had taken his head cryptographer hostage and the Hale had also killed the NSA junior sys-sec.

Hale was afraid that the security team would overrun the office and kill him, so he escaped with Susan into the stairwell. The commander’s call, however, had only been a trick; he hadn?t actually called security.

Hale realized he’d been tricked while he was going down the stairs, but it was to late. The commander overpowered him at the bottom of the stairs and rescued Susan.

Amy

Hello Amy,

thanks for the correction.

Your assumption about Hale?s demands are correct. He would kill Susan, if the commander didn?t hand over his gun. It is also possible, when I use “demand” in this sentence?

OK back to the story. Susan and the commander tie Hale up (?) and the commander instructed Susan continue to look for the passkey. Suddenly they heared a horn and a yellow siren light spun abvoe the floor. The commander left the room and went upstairs to his terminal. Hale woke up from the loud signal and he asked Susan, if she released him. Susan countiue to demanded the passkey form him, but he told her, that he has?nt it and that he isn?t North Dakota. He told her that he had spoon the account form the commander and there was a tape. The mails form North Dakato in his account were only copys form Strathmores account. He told that he had read Brainstroms form Strathmore and he knews his plans about Digital Fortress. He claimed that he had abort her tracer, because he thought she were looking for him.

Regards Heike
