I’m happy to be welcomed like this. Thank you
It was an allusion to And Quiet Flows the Don which is the name of a movie.
Thanks Masme! I appreciate that.
Thanks for sharing this, Anglophile.
Dear Narsis, you very welcome.
The river, May Kha, flows swiftly .
I suggest ‘The river May Kha flows/is flowing swiftly’.
-
The May Kha flows swiftly. Torsten I would suggest ‘flows’ as in 'I’m ashamed that his blood courses through my veins. It repeats itself over and over again and doesn’t stop.
-
The Mackenzie flows through Canada. It is not necessary to use ‘the river’, although it is possible. See below. You might find a sentence like that in tourist brochures, flyers and leaflets, even in historical outlines about countries and their cities.
Instead of ‘flow’ I would also suggest to use the verb ‘run’.
- The May Kha runs swiftly
- The Mackenzie runs through Cananda.
! By the way did you know that the Thames originates from the Celtic Tamesas? !
Please consider it.
By the way the title of this topic should read: How do I write my sentence (the) best rather than How do I write my sentence to be the best.
Consider it, would you?
I would make it simpler:
-
Mr. Johnson left London for New York. (it is generally known that Boris Johnson is the Prime Minister of the UK)
-
Boris Johnson left London for New York.
-
Mrs. Thatcher left London for New York. (Yes, yes, yes, I know she passed away in 2013, but just give you an alternative)
-
Margaret Thatcher left London for New York.
That sounds more natural to me.
