in my opinion, give up it’s more concerning some habits or more serious issues…but it depends on the situation and context)))
You can give up smoking, your old boyfriend or being forced your home.
You can give up - stop trying to guess and here this is somehow the same with give in - admit defeat.
They can be interchangeable I guess.
