Hi my teacher i very glad and very hapy with this suggest but i am only read your massge

Hi Torsten, I agree with most of ur points. English is my major in university and alos my second language. I am deeply convinced that surrounded by a native-English environment is quite vital. The biggest problem with my English is listening, which cause much difficulties for me to communicate with foreigners fluently. I have tried to listen to VOA&BBC every evening ( you know, I have to work on th day), but it does not work! I do not what’s wrong with my listening. Much confused. Can you help me?

Hi, everybody!
I can’t but join your conversation about how one can learn and improve his/her language skills. As for me each of you says right things. A person needs a teacher to explain grammar and other rules, but to speak any foreign language you need practise first of all. But to speak correctly you also need native-speaker surrounding because every language is developing with the time and new words appear along with new meanings to the existing ones.
But I should also admit that some genius people can learn foreign language by watching TV and reading books. I know one little girl who learned German just by watching programmes and movies in German. I learned Polish this way, but I’m not genius because this language is quite close to my native (Russian) and besides I can’t write in Polish, I don’t know the spelling and grammar rules.
As for English I’ve been studying it at school and institute, but I feel real lack of communication with native speakers. And that’s why I’m here with you

Dear Mr. Torsten i am very hapy with this site and when i recev any lesson from you i am glad

Dear Torsten,
I would like to answer the questions you initially posted.
I think that I spend about seven hours per week watching TV.
And I rarely drive my car, may be around three hours in seven days.
I don’t read magazines, neither newspapers, because I can reach all the information that I need from Internet. But I read books a lot.
It’s hard to say how many emails I write per day or week, probably because it’s a different amount of hours every day and I can just assume it.
I spend approximately two hours per day on the Internet and its possibilities.
I spend fifteen minutes each day eating my breakfast with my family.
I don’t like to go to the cinema. The high sounding atmosphere bother me too much. I better stay home where I have installed a home theater system that allow me to watch movies in the same quality and controlling the sound volume.
Best regards,
Kristy

i can follow your suggestion,
thanks

It’s really great advice.

Hi Torsten,

I am trying to learn English better. I have never visited english course because of the high fee. When I started to learn English, I was a poor student. We had a English class once a week with native speaker. Officially, we had this English class for two years. But it wasn’t enough to learn English. I always tried to learn it by myself.
From my experiency, we should learn english fast every day for few minutes, as you suggested reading newspapers, books and listening the audio and MP3.
You should find a time to learn English and you should be motivated to learn it.

Anyway, I am grateful that I found your web and do some exercises.

See you soon on the forum.
Cheers, Khishig

Good idea
thanks
