Hi,

My friend Y told me that X’s father passed away. How to respond in such a situation? Are any of the sentences below ok? If not, could someone please tell me the right way to respond?

  • I am sorry to hear about X’s father’s passing away.
  • I am sorry to hear about X’s father’s death.
  • I am sorry to hear about X’s loss.

All three sentences are fine and perfectly interchangeable.
