When a country develop its technology, the traditional skills and ways of life die out. It is pointless to try and keep them alive. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion.


It is true that the advantages and disadvantages of technology development are one of the most concerned issues in modern society. It is obvious that it is able to create a breakthrough in economy. Conversely, over social aspect, it also can get rid of tradition. It is argued that when a country develop its technology, the traditional skills and ways of life die out, and it is pointless to try and keep them alive. I can not totally agree with this opinion. There are some motivations for us.

First of all, when life is improved, people will have more time to appreciate traditional value. In fact, the modernizing and industrializing are seen as the unique ways to stop poverty and to become prosperous. Life will be improved. Everyone no longer have to worry about what to eat and wear. As the result, more and more people today are conscious that the traditional lifestyles are our own distinctive culture which we are proud to. So we strive to preserve and promote them. Furthermore, they are also special materials to grow tourism industry which can earn high profit. Especially, they will attract many international tourists.

Secondly, we can learn many things from the traditional skills and ways of life. They are our history. Though it is difficult to touch our history by our own hands, we can learn it directly from the traditional skills and ways of life if we keep them alive. It is the best way to teach our own history to children.

To put all in a nutshell, it is not pointless to try and keep tradition alive along with developing technology. We absolutely have incentives to do that due to the values and benefits they will brings to us.
