When "bland" means "sweet"?

Hi guys,

just a short question. When “bland” means “sweet”? My dictionary(english->my native language) says that bland can also mean sweet (is that right?), but I checked thefreedictionary.com portal and there “bland” means always “tasteless” / “flavourless”.

thanks in advance

Best Regards

Hi PeaceMaker,

‘Bland’ can also refer to people and has the sense of ‘nondescript’ or of being neither one thing or the other. On reflection it seems unlikely even when referring to people that it could ever suggest sweetness.

I agree with Alan. Perhaps a semblance of sweetness exists in this definition and example:

bland: pleasantly gentle or agreeable: ‘a bland, affable manner’.

Great, thank you guys for help.
