What's wrong with this? ( have seen that film last night at my local cinema.)

Hello, Alan,
You mean this?
I saw this film last night…

Yes, that’s right. You need the past simple (saw) as this is a definite time in the past. ‘I have seen the film’ (present perfect) indicates the action is in the past but the exact time is not indicated.

Actually, you added another aspect here - - namely the difference between ‘that film’ and ‘this film’. Very good :+1:

HI Torsten,

Do you mean “this film” is correct, not “that film”?

I would say both ‘this’ and ‘that’ are both acceptable.

Thanks, Alan.

The original is “that film”. In my opinion, it should not be changed to “this film”.

I agree that it’s not needed.
