What time is it? (Unit 11)

Hello Sirs!
I still have a doubt.
When it’s 7:30 am I’ll say “It’s seven thirty in the morning” right?
When It’s 12:00 pm I’ll say “It’s noon”
When It’s 7:30 pm it’s “Seven thirty noon”? or it will be already “seven thirty night”?

Thanks!
(It’s Twenty seven past eleven… at night!)

If it is interesting for somebody, in Armenia we also use past and to (it sounds like ANC and PAKAS correspondingly),
but we don’t use a.m. or p.m.
Instead of that we use…
For example, if we want to mention that it is morning, we just write 9:40.
But for evening we write 21:40.

Hello teacher!
Could you help me to clarify 2 questions? What are different of them?

  • Where are you from? ( It means they want to know where you have just come from?)
  • Where do you come from? ( It means they want to know which country do you come from?)
I’m not so sure about it? Could you explain me more about it and tell me my idea is right or wrong?
    Thanks in advance!!!

thanks

Where are you from?
Where do you come from?
Both the above can be used to ask about what place or establishment you are from (country, city, university, school, etc.)

Where did you come from? - this asks about the place you were originally from or the place you had been before now. It can also be an expression of surprise.

Where did you come from? I didn’t notice you arriving.

Good evening Ralf.

Studying diligently, and I’m trying to understand the difference.

Can you write for us,here, what is the difference between speech and writing on the subject in question or reporting - “Time”
… Thanks in advance

thanks sir, this is very helpful

Good evening.

Yes, I think that I know how to ask them:

9:40 a.m- It is twenty to ten,It is nine forty minutes in the morning.

6:12 p.m- It is twetve past six in the evening.

2:30 p.m- It is half past two or it is two thirty.

5:00 a.m- It is five o’clock.

10:15 a.m -It is ten fifteen in the morning or it is quarter past ten.

7:47 p.m -It is forty-seevn to seven or it is thirteen minutes to eight.

So, I usually finish work at a quarter to five and arrive home araund six in the evening. at night I usually go to bed at eleven o’clock.

Have a great evening.

Thanks
