So what was it?
As for me, they were the turtle’s eggs and a type of worm called ulat mulong. The turtle’s eggs was quite delicious, one of my favourite dishes. But it’s illegal now, so I am repentant. And the worms, they tasted like shrimp with caramel. I’ve never eaten them alive, fried only. You can have it both ways. They popped like popcorn when we fried them. It’s a delicacy in my hometown, from the Melanau people (a branch of Malay, but they don’t like it when we say that
).

EDIT:
Ulat mulong is the only worm we eat.
I ate Iguana meat once :-). My mom hadn’t told me that when she served it.
I started eating it just when I felt the taste was a little different. I asked my mom what it was and she told me it was Iguana meat. I didn’t know people ate that. Anyway, it tasted OK.
They say women should not eat it, dunno why
Poor iguana! How could you? (kidding  )
I haven’t tried anything from the lizard group yet, but when my parents were in Mecca for the pilgrimage, they tried Dhab, a type of big lizard in the desert.
Maybe I’ll try some when it’s time for me to go for pilgrimage later. Maybe.
