I still remember when I was in second year of the study in university, Najib Razak, our current prime minister was announcing one of his visions that called “One Malaysia”. At that time, I was not understand yet about what was the actual concept of One Malaysia.
One Malaysia concept is a concept that was introduced to cultivate unity among the Malaysians. This concept evolves through social, economy and politic. It stresses on the national unity without being considered of racial, religion, regional and others.
Once Najib Razak had replaced Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as the prime minister, he implemented lots of policy according to One Malaysia concept. He tried to improve the government efficiency by introducing a “Key productivity Index” which measure the productivity of public and private sector. To cultivate the unity among nation, he supported any activity that relevant to One Malaysia concept. These include of the effort of media, NGOs and many others. Many infrastructure and facilities also has been upgraded via One Malaysia concept. 1Malaysia clinic was introduced to support the rural citizens who cannot afford the expenditure of the health care.
Personally, I was so impressed by how serious the government had taken to take care of us as citizens regardless any backgrounds. One Malaysia concept was proven could be accept by all of the ethnic in this country although there might be some issues that make it not relevant to some other people. But I must say that, we should politic aside and look forward foe everything that good for people.
In conclusion, I would say that this One Malaysia concept has really changed my perception to the government.
