What does the word "still" mean ?

“Other people like to travel, and still other people like to have an adventure.” What does the word “still” mean in this sentence ? Could it be “but” ?

It’s not very well written, as still + other don’t fit together naturally. However I’m sure that the writer intenced the meaning of ‘still other’ to be ‘yet more’ (more people still).

BN has answered your question,
just to point out that, as she says, the sentence isn’t very good in the first place…

The use of ‘other people’ and ‘still other people’ would more plainly be something like:

“Some people like to travel, while others like to have an adventure.”
or “Some people like to travel, and other people like to have an adventure.” etc.
