What does 'chat up' mean?

Could you help to explain what’s the maning of "chat up " on the sentence below :
"You have to create opportunities where you can subtly talk to someone without it feeling like you’re chatting them up! "

Talking to someone in a way that shows them you are sexually attracted to them.

Common enough throughout the US & Canada, I think-- though it may not be the argot of the newest generation. Why not ask some of your acquaintances if they are familiar with the term?
