We will work closely with the management

We will work closely with the management.

We will closely work with the management.

Which is the correct sentence?

Thanks!

I think both are correct but have slightly different meanings. Let’s see what @Arinker and @Alan and @Anglophile as well as @Andrea (aka the big 4 A) have to say.

Both are fine. By putting the adverb ‘closely’ before the verb, you emphasise the fact that the working together is close. In that sense the sentence breaks from the standard phrase ‘working closely’ and adds greater conviction to the co-operation indicated.

Yes, both are acceptable. Usually, the adverb is placed between the first two components of the verbal unless the speaker or the writer has a specific inclination to place it elsewhere for focus or emphasis (as Alan says).
