Verbs using: truth and lie

Hi everybody

I would like to know the verbs we could use with truth and lie . Are the given sentences correct?

1- She is saying/ telling/ speaking the truth.
2- She is saying/ telling/ speaking a lie.

Hi Tom

It is possible to use “say” and “speak” with “the truth”, but using “tell” + “the truth” would be by far the most common usage.

I would not recommend using “say” + “a lie”, although it might work in some cases. “Speak” + “a lie” sounds a bit biblical to me. :shock: Using “tell” + “a lie” would again be by far the most common usage.
