We use ‘used to’ to talk about things that happened in the past but that no longer happen now.
We use ‘use to’ with the negative (‘didn’t use to’) and questions (‘Did you use to …?’).

Regarding your confusion about ‘sit’ or ‘sat’, because we are referring back to what happened at that time in the past when it was happening, we use the present ‘sit’.

thank you beeesneees.I had thought since “used to” is in past the “sat” too should be in the past

You’re welcome.

By the way, you make gap errors when you type, which makes it harder for the person reading your messages. You should always leave a space after full stops, commas and similar punctuation marks. The exceptions to this are when you open a set of marks, such as parentheses, brackets or inverted commas and quotation marks.
