use the abbreviation "The Hon."

Hi my friends, could you please tell on which occations you use the abbreviation The Hon.? I understand this stand for The Honorable and is used in connection with titles and functions of members of non-profit organizations. Is that correct?

Thanks in advance,
The Hon. Torsten[YSaerTTEW443543]

Hi Torsten

When I think of “The Honorable” from an American point of view, I think of higher level governmental officials (such as senators), judges, sometimes mayors, etc.

Using “The Hon.” for officials of non-profit organizations doesn’t specifically come to mind — unless you look at government as a “non-profit organization”.
