Use of "end run"

Hello,

Which of the following sentences, if any, sound O.K.?

  1. So you do an end run around his civil rights and lock him up without providing him with legal council? That’s unconstitutional!
  2. So you make an end run around his civil rights and lock him up without providing him with legal council? That’s unconstitutional!

Thanks in advance!

I think #1 is more common. Ms Google says:

do an end run – About 1,240,000 results
make an end run – About 653,000 results

Thanks, MM!
As for the rest of the sentences, do they sound normal (I mean the part other than ‘So you do/make an end run…’)?

Yes, fine, OTS.
