Can someone please tell me if the following usages of the word ‘request’ are fine?

  1. I request you to go through all the documents.
  2. I request that you go through all the documents.

Hi,

‘Request’ is more commonly used in the passive. For that reason I find both sentences a little stilted. I would suggest: You are requested to go through all the documents.
