Usage of 'look up from book'

I was reading book when John called me. I looked up from my book at him and asked what he wanted.

Is the usage look up from book fine here?

I would point out you’re missing an article (or possibly a possessive adjective ‘my’) before ‘book’.

Maybe it was just a typo, but I think I’ve noticed you have a tendency to forget articles sometimes.

If was just an honest typo, ignore. It it was a mistake, consider it a friendly reminder to include your articles with your nouns. :wink:
