Hi, please could you explain the meaning of ‘under their greens’ in the following sentence?
‘It was the Paddington rail crash, everyone was called – and they worked twelve hours at a stretch in their trainers and shorts under their greens’.

I’m pretty sure ‘under their greens’ here refers to the green uniforms worn by the paramedics. Let’s see what @Luschen TJ thinks.

That’s what I was guessing too. I didn’t know what sort of uniforms paramedics wear in the UK, but apparently it is green indeed:
