Never has anyone heard of winter turn/turning back to autumn.
Can either verb be used with no difference in meaning?
Thanks.

I would say both are possible with the continuous form putting emphasis on the process while the infinitive stresses the result.
I think the beginning of the sentence sounds unnatural and would prefer - Nobody has ever heard of …
The only possible verb form is the participle ‘turning’ after the preposition ‘of’ in your sentence.
I agree with Alan on the use of participle (returning) after the preposition (of). But sentences beginning with the negative adverb never are not uncommon though I have seen them usually with a specific name, noun or pronoun rather than ‘anyone’.
Never did John realize his mistake.
Never can politicians be taken for granted.
Never will she commit such a blunder again.
Thanks to all of you.
