Television advertising directed towards young children (aged two to five) should not be allowed.
Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Advertisement is ubiquitous in our daily life. It is merged in television and other media everyday. Some ads aiming at young children are also not uncommon to see, especially in television. And these ads are often equipped with fantasies that mislead kids and increase the unnecessary cost to their parents. So I opposed that ads can be exposed to children directly.

In the first place, children under the age of five lack the ability to distinguish the virtue and reality. The goal of advertising mainly focuses on the profits regardless of the negative impact on the children. Some ads present the products as somebody who possesses super power, such as Superman, Spiderman and Batman. These toys are armed with extraordinary characteristics like flying and climbing on the wall. They use their power to save people’s lives. All of these strike the children, both optically and mentally. Thus once these guys appear in the ads, children just cannot help to buy one even if they’ve already have some. If such demand is not satisfied, they will scream and cry, which annoys their parents. In most cases, parents who are upset by this noises pay the extra money for the toys in the end.

In the second place, ads often use exaggerations to mislead children. As we know, ads often use some unreal images to tempt consumers. Some method like host sales is widely used in the ads targeting for children. For examples, they will show a famous Cartoon character like Mickey on the screen and it drinks the products happily. When children watch TV and see their Mickey, they tend to believe that the drink is tasty. However, the drink can be as usual as the other types or even worse. They reach to children only because Mickey not the products themselves. Thus many more nutrient drinks are ostracized by children. It is unfair and deceptive.

In sum, ads are beneficial since it provides us with the information about the products and it enhances the creativity and imagination of children. However, the advantages should base on the responsibility and the obligation to protect and comfort the consumers, especially the children. Had this elementary requirement not catered, the ads, no matter how attractive they are, do not deserve a glimpse.
