We may frequent our co-workers more than our family and friends; then, maintaining a pleasant working environment is of utmost importance. As a matter of fact, co-workers can create or destruct a satisfying job experience. Therefore, they play a crucial role in enhancing or worsening our daily work. So, essential characteristics that co-workers should have are the following.
To begin with, co-workers must demostrate their professionalism. Not only should they act as professionals but also they ought to has a profesional presence in the company.They should work hard and perform their duties with greatly care and on time. They should avoid negligence and carelessness. Were they to make a terrible mistake, they should mend it promptly, instead of putting the blame on others. Besides, they should not steal credit for others’ accomplishments.
On top of that, co-workers must have a team spirit. They should demostrate that they are truly team-players. If they perform their part of the project and help others to finish their assignments, the quality of the overall work will be enhanced. Apart from that, they ought to be open-minded in listening others’ ideas and sharing their own thoughts. They should not isolate themselves, so their colleagues do not find it difficult to approach them.
What is more, they must have respect for others. Discrimination or violence in the work place ought to be avoided. They should value the minorities and capabilities of other colleagues. If they have some complaints about other colleagues, they should talk about it calmly. Moreover, harassment or intimidation should be prevented.
In addition, co-workers must have a considerable sense of humour. Nobody wants to be closed to someone who complaints all the time or has frequently a negative perspective view of life.
To sum up, when it comes to the top qualities of a co-worker, I would believe that I want to work closely with someone who is responsible, accessible, respectful, and friendly.
