'To tie the knot' vs To knot the tie :)

Hi

I know the meaning of to tie the knot. At least, in BrE

My question is:

Can I say ‘to knot the tie’? and how would you understand that?

To me it would only mean ‘to finish tying one’s necktie’.

Hi Tamara,

Knot the tie? I would suggest it means tie a knot in a tie, is it (k)not?

A

Thanks.
I like English.

In North America, “tie the knot” also means get married, so “to tie the knot” also means to get married.

He’s only 19. Do you really think he’s ready to tie the knot?

Hmm… Exactly the same as in the UK…
