Hi,

I’d like to know if the following sentences are both correct (if so, do they have the same meaning?):

  1. What will you do if they offer you the job?
  2. What will you do if they GIVE you the job?

They’re both correct, but I think the meaning is slightly different. Sentence 1 sounds as if it is not yet definite that you actually want the job, you still have to decide. Sentence 2 sounds as if you are just waiting to say yes.
