to my fill

Hi teachers,

I filled myself with food. Correct?
I ate food to my fill. Correct?

To me, “I filled myself with food.” sounds pretty odd. For your second, I would say “I ate my fill.”

We don’t need to mention what we ate?

What else would you eat? I guess maybe tears and sorrow: poemhunter.com/poem/i-ate-my-fill/

But saying “I ate my fill of food” sounds odd to me, but you can say something more specific - I ate my fill of birthday cake. I ate my fill of curry.

edit - sorry, that poem does have a few errors; I don’t think the writer was a native English speaker, but the poem still is pretty good in my opinion.
