@Torsten’s sentence is much smoother for most contexts.

If there is a reason to emphasize “Saturday”, you could keep the original with a comma after “Saturday”.

Last Saturday, everyone wore jeans for the talent competition.
This Saturday, for the dance competition, ladies are to dress in white while gentlemen are to dress in dark clothes and black shoes.
