Are these sentences right? I myself wrote them, so I do not know if they are right. Please help me to correct them.

  1. There is/ are both private and state school in the system.

  2. There is a lot of in formation in/ on the newspaper.

  3. The world will be/ have more than 9 billion people in 2030.

  4. There aren’t many/ any students in my class.

  5. Would you tell me where you were born?

Corrections, plus suggestions for saying the same thing in a more natural way:

  1. There are both private and state schools in in the system.
    Both private and state schools are included in the system.

  2. There is a lot of information in the newspaper.
    The newspaper includes a lot of information.

  3. The world will contain more than 9 billion people by 2030.
    By 2030, there will be more than 9 billion people in the world.

  4. There aren’t many students in my class.
    (‘any’ does not work in this context unless you are the teacher and you are stating that no one at all has enrolled - otherwise, if there are no students it is not a class.)

  5. Would you tell me where you were born?
    Where were you born, please?
