The theme parks are so

  1. The theme parks are so crowded on weekends that queues are a mile long.
  2. True friendship always last despite numerous difficulties of life.
What is wrong with the above sentences?

In 2 ‘lasts’ not ‘last’ or ‘frienships’ not ‘friendship’. '‘the numerous…’:

True friendship always lasts despite the numerous difficulties of life.
True friendships always last despite the numerous difficulties of life.

I see no problem with 1.

In 1 “at weekends”, I think.

I am from the UK and I would always say “at weekends”. However, I understand that “on weekends” is used in the US.

Thanks a lot, Dozy. I didn’t know that “on weekends” is usually used in the US.

But we do not usually use the word “queues” in the US, so maybe the correct answers are:

The theme parks are so crowded on weekends that the lines are a mile long.

or

The theme parks are so crowded at weekends that queues are a mile long.

But I think that would be overly tricky.
