The only thing I did was...

Hey guys,

I came across a sentence when I was reading a book yesterday.
[color=red]
“The only thing I did today was play football”

I’m not sure which one of these sentences is (grammatically) correct.

a) The only thing I did today was play football with my friends at school.

b) The only thing I did today was playing football with my friends at school.

c) The only thing I did today was to play football with my friends at school.

d) The only thing I did today was that I played football with my friends at school.

I think I’m a bit confused :frowning:

I think the first two sentences are the most common ones.

Which one would a native speaker use?

Thanks in advance~ :slight_smile:

Only A and C are natural, and A is the usual.

How about grammatically? I don’t found any mistake in any sentence???
