The now president of ROC, got him assassinated (never confirmed) and tried to be a emperor.

I get confused about “got him assassinated”. Does it mean the president was assassinated?

Why read texts that apparently were not written by native speakers of English? What are you trying to accomplish from this exercise?

I’m sorry. It’s not my exercise. Just quoted from the link https://www.quora.com/China-ruled-Vietnam-for-over-1-000-years-why-is-Vietnam-not-an-ancient-inseparable-part-of-China-like-Taiwan-is. Please refer part of Zhang Song Quan and you will see it.

So, why not read texts written by native speakers?

I’ve just wondered grammartically about the quote meaning only.

The sentence contains several grammar mistakes and it sounds odd.

The current president of the ROC had him assassinated (although this has never been confirmed) and tried to be an emperor.

Although the sentence might now be grammatically correct more context is required in order to improve the entire text even further. Again, I would not use this type of texts to learn English. It’s a waste of time.
