The details have been covered in great detail

Just heard this on the BBC: “The details of this case have been covered in great detail”. I understand that ‘details’ and ‘detail’ are different concepts but still the phrase sounds a bit odd because of the repetition. What would be a good alternative?

Maybe “The particulars of this case have been covered in great detail.” or “The details of this case of been covered extensively.”
