Like any other period in one person’s life, even the years of the college are characterized by positive and negative aspects. For example it is problably the first time that one person is called to leave the security of his familiar environment and to take care of himself; furthermore he is asked to organize himself both in his academic and in his personal and private life. However the years of the college can be considerated as the most important because it is the period during wich the person, measuring himself with people from different backgrounds, forges his own spirit, personality, maturity.
First of all students at the college lives and acts in a very competitive environment. They are asked to study hard and to strenghten their character and their abilities to succed and to emerge among other students. Although this may appear as a harsh period instead of a happy time, because it requires hard work, nonetheless the personal satisfactions that is possible to achieve are worth the effort. Having a good mark, for example, or gaining the respect of the teacher or of the other classmates, represent the first few significant moments in the life, thus making this period as one of the most important in the entire existence.
Furthermore the years at the college are characterized by the necessity to confront with other students coming from different parts of the country or of the world. Anyone of them brings with him his own culture and behaviours, and the need to relate with those different backgrounds makes the students open his mind and enlarge his views. Thus, more than adulthood or childhood, it is the time during wich the person forges his mentality and his own vision of the world, something thet would probably affect the person for the rest of his life.
Finally It is possible to conclude that even though hard work and even difficult moments and problems to solve are typical of this period, it is, nevertheless, one of the most important moments as it gives the possibility to mesure with other people and therefore to grow up and mature in a better way.
