Education plays an important role in the country. High quality of education can enhance the development of the country. However, recently, there have been strong debates on whether or not the best way to improve the quality of education in a country is to increase teachers’ salaries. Many people hold the opinion that increasing the salaries of teachers is really the best way. Contrary to the opinion of many people is my heartfelt agreement with the idea that raising wages of teachers is not the best way.
It is an undeniable fact that increasing teachers’ salaries can bring many benefits. Teachers will be motivated if their salaries are increased. They may pay more attention to teach their students and make students learn more knowledge. Meanwhile, when teachers’ wages rise, more competent persons will be attracted to work as teachers. This also can improve the quality of education. Considerable though the advantages that increasing teachers’ salaries leads to are, they cannot compete with the benefits that other significant ways brings about.
To begin with, to train and reeducation teachers is a very important way. Training teachers can make them build up many essential characteristics, such as being faithful and dedicated to their jobs. Only when teachers dedicate themselves to the job, they can be willing to pay more attention to it. In contrast, increasing their wages will make them become more utilitarian. Also, reeducating teachers can improve their teaching skills and enlarge their knowledge. If teaching skills of teachers are poor, their students will not gain knowledge effectively and efficiently, even though they may devote most of their time teaching students. Enlarging teachers’ knowledge can make them easily answer students’ difficult questions exactly. It also can help students acquire knowledge.
What’s more, the government and society can pay money to buy teaching facilities and materials, such as experimental labs and books in libraries. It is another better to improve the quality of education. If students cannot do chemical experiments because of lack of labs, they will not comprehend the mechanisms of chemical reactions. Labs are also significant to biology and physics. If there are many books in libraries, students can read them in spare time. This can make them know many interesting and new things that they cannot learn form their classes. All of these things can improve the quality of education.
Although arising the wages of teachers is a good way, there are many better ways to enhance the quality of education, such as training teacher and buying teaching facilities.
