Tender, people who lives on the street

Do people use the word puppy or poppy as tender or beautiful or something like that?

There was a guy who gave his girlfriend a gift and she said “oh, are you a puppy!?” or poppy…

Also, how do you call people who ask for money on the street? and people who lives on the street…?

Hello, I just want to share my answer to you  If you don’t mind.

= here in the Philippines we call them Beggar.

Puppy is the term for young dogs.
Poppy is a kind of flower.

People in romantic relationships can call each other all sorts of silly names, and it’s not impossible for someone to use “puppy” or “poppy”. However, neither is in common use as a pet name, as far as I’m aware. Is this a remark you heard in a film or TV show? I’m wondering if you misheard the word “poppet”, which is used as a term of affection.
