Tell me with civility what the matter is? Or tell me with civility what's the mat

Hi teachers,

Tell me with civility what the matter is? Or tell me with civility what’s the matter? Which one is correct.

Many thanks.

[s]They are both incorrect. You can say:

“Tell me what is / what’s the matter with civility.”
“Tell me what the matter is with civility.”[/s]

Thank you, Dozy.
Why can’t we use “with civility” after “tell me”?

Untaught, I’m sorry, I think I misread what you were trying to say and totally messed up my answer.

If you mean “tell me politely what the matter is” then both your sentences are possible, but the former seems preferable to me.

Tell me with civility what the matter is? is preferable?

No, it isn’t. ‘Politely’ is a better choice.
