Spacing confusion after "."

I found some people tend to write with 1, 2 or 3 space after placing the “.” in paragraph.

I am not concern about grammar here… but just wondering which is a good practice or correct? 1 space, 2 space or 3 space or it doesn’t really matter?

Example

  • There is some work to be done. He is going to help you.
  • There is some work to be done. He is going to help you.
  • There is some work to be done. He is going to help you.

It’s traditional to type two spaces after the period (full stop), but nowadays, because of electronic publishing, some style manuals tell us to use just one space. You’re not wrong if you do either one, but just don’t use three spaces.

Thank you for the explanation Jamie.

I found this from the web search, could be an interesting read…

That’s a very informative article. I should also mention that it’s not advisable to use two spaces after a period if you are typesetting, because the wider space on several lines can result in what are called “rivers”. Those are the illusion of white tracks running down the page, and it’s caused by the accidental aligning of these double spaces.
