Some young adults want independence from their parents as soon as possible. Other young adults prefer to live with their families for a longer time. Which of these situations do you think is better? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
I’m looking forward for your comments.
With the recession of economics, many young adults tend to live with their family for a longer time, which is not common in the past. That’s where the controversy arises. Some young adults prefer the earliest possible independence, which can bring them enormous freedom, while others are in favor of moving in with their parents, so that they don’t have to worry about the rent. I completely agree with the latter idea, for living with their families for a longer time will undoubtedly make young adults’ life comfortable and bring more fun to their parents.
First of all, living with families for a longer time can make young adults’ life easy and enjoyable. As we know due to the global economics recession which begins from 2007, hundreds of thousands of young adults become workless, and they have no enough money to support themselves, let alone their family. And living with parents for a longer time will surely, to some degree, relieve the economical pressure, since their parents will not charge them any rent and probably will loan or even give some money to help them. Instead of struggling to make ends meet, these young adults have enough time and energy to enjoy their life more by playing sports, listening to music or just having a good rest. Moreover, they can make a perfect plan for their future and become more prepared for the heating competition. According to a survey, in China, ten percent more young adults are moving in with their families than last year. All this indisputable evidence piles up to show that it makes smart economic sense to live with family for a longer time.
Secondly, family members will enjoy more quality time together. And the more time they have, the more frequently they communicate with each other. Therefore, the relationship between family members in the family will become more harmonious. For instance, my cousin Goey, once studied in a university in Beijing, graduated this summer and moved back to my uncle’s house. My uncle becomes much happier than before, and always plays computer games with my cousin. They play like children, shouting, laughing and cheering, nothing seems to be more critical than enjoying one’s life with family. Also, the young adults can help their parents do some labor such as fixing the car, watering the garden and so on. At the same time, parents are able to make use of the extra time saved from housework to enjoy what they really like, for example, they can go to the park more often, enjoy the wonderful songs by birds, and breathe the fresh air there, which contributes to the good health of them.
Beneficial as living with parents for a longer time is, some minor advantages of early independence cannot be easily left out. For example, without parents’ protection, those young people who have obtained early independence will encounter more difficulties, such as purchasing their own houses and saving up money for their children’s college. As a result, they will grow through these hardships, and get a excellent opportunity to learn how to cope with stress and being strong even during the hardest times, which in no way can be experienced by those who choose to live for a longer time with their families.
From what have been discussed above, it can be directly concluded that even though the advantages that early independence enjoys are considerable, they cannot compete with the benefits that living with family for a longer time brings about, when financial pressure and parents’ happiness are taken into consideration. Thus, I support the idea of living with family for a longer time.
