Students have different strategies and study habits. Some people like to study in a group, while others prefer to study alone. Personally, I prefer to study alone due to certain reasons and examples listed below.
Firstly, I believe that I should enjoy the things I do, so is the case with my studies. Studying in a group means meeting the members at a particular time and place. How can I study with a group of people who want to study at a particular time, when I just do not have the passion for it?
Secondly, I find studying alone more productive. When I am studying with a group of people, a simple thing, such as the sound of a pencil dropping down can be easily distracting. Moreover, the characteristics of the members of a group play an important role. All the members should be bound and determined. It will be a waste of time if they crack jokes or talk about other things instead of discussing the topics related to their studies .
Last but not least, studying in a group needs certain preparations. If all the members start from the very beginning without knowing the simplest things, it will be difficult to finish all the materials in one sitting. It will be more effective if they read the materials beforehand, especially if those materials are dense and have a lot of information in them. In this way, they know what type of questions or doubts they have to bring to that group. After a group session, they also need to study alone so as to make sure that they understand all of the information and concepts when they do not have other people to support them.
To put all in a nutshell, studying habits differ from person to person. I find it easier and more productive when I study alone, since I know when the the right time is for me to enjoy my studies, and also I will be able to concentrate more.
