Should the colon after "right" be replaced by a semi-colon?

Jason is right: you would normally say “My watch is one minute fast” or “My watch is set one minute ahead”, not “My watch is fast [or faster] by one minute”.

Should the colon after “right” be replaced by a semi-colon?

Thanks.

Yes, you can use a semicolon, which, to me, looks more grammatical.
