Sentence: The part opens until 8:00 pm.

Is this correct?
“The park opens until 8:00 pm.”
I meant to say that the park would be opened till 8 in the evening.
Thanks,
Suresh

It’s wrong. The sentence means that the process of opening the park lasts until 8:00 p.m. Maybe the people start opening it at 7:00 a.m., but they are so lazy that they don’t finish the work of opening the park until evening, and then they immediately have to close it again.

We would say, “The park is open until 8:00 p.m.,” or, “The park stays open until 8:00 p.m.”

Hi Jamie(K),

Thank you for your elaborate reply and help.
