Security Company

Dear teacher,

Please read:

  1. I’m working for that [color=red]security company.
  2. I’m working for that [color=red]securities company.

What is the difference in meaning btw (1) and (2)? Is there a case where they’re the same meaning? If reading these 2 sentences, you think I am a guardian or I work for a company whose business is shares, stock…?

Quoc

In the first case “Security” means protection, (from robbery, theft, vandalism etc). So a security company is a company that protects you, your premises, staff, assets . . .

In the second case “securities” referrs to form of financial holdings, or investments: long term investment to secure your furure. So a “securities company” is a finacial institution or broker.
