Scored 1490 in GRE exam: What are the chances of me getting a scholarship?

Hi. I gave gre last week… I got 800 in quant and 690 in verbal. Now i have a few questions…
1)Will it make a difference to my selection if i dont apply now but after a year or two. I finished my engineering in Computer Sc. this year, and now i have started working in a reputed communications software company.
2)What are the chances of me getting a scholarship?.. What are the criterias for scholarship ? My average percentage in college was 73%.
3) Are the number of seats available for admission in Spring less than that in Fall?.. Is the diference very significant?
4) I am not able to decide in which field i want to do my MS. Is there a good site which can help me. Also is there a good site which explains the various criterias of selection by universities.

I would be very grateful if somebody can answer all my questions… Um really really confused… Please help.

  1. That is a great score! Congrats! That’s competitive at any school, now or a few years from now. Nice job.

  2. Scholarships vary. Your score will definitely help. There’s info at www.fafsa.org on financial aid in general.

  3. There are definitely fewer seats for spring admissions, in general, because not a whole lot of schools take students starting in the spring. I would apply in the fall for your best admissions chances, not to mention financial aid. Not nearly as much financial aid is available in the spring.

  4. Look for some career quizzes or tools that help you pick a major. There’s a fun one on review.com. It gave me some great ideas and some really funny ones, and some that I wish I’d considered before going to undergrad, because now I’m interested in those things and it’s harder to break into those programs for a master’s without a bachelor’s in the same subject (like history and archaeology). Go here and do the quiz: princetonreview.com/careers- … ?uidbadge=

That site has some good info about applying to schools too.

HTH…

Wow, great score. Can you please let us know if you get any scholarships?
And I also agree with Sprightly and think that there are more seats in the fall than the spring so you might have a better chance then.

congratulation. you won’t get anything just kidding. this is the highest score I’ve read about. you did great. I wish I can get that. good luck. I think you can be admitted as a president of one of the universities not as only as a student.

Congratulations.I really want to know how you have done with the verbal section. I think it’s very hard. I took the paper based test, but my score was low. I’m working to improve it. I want your advice. My email is hatimin@hotmail.fr
