Recording voice messages on the forum?

This is great

Hi, I think itā€™s a great idea and I hope Iā€™ll be able to speak English fluently one day.

I think it is a great addition and a valuable asset for the english learner to be able to post audio for critique and to be able to hear audio for the purpose of developing better speaking/listening habits. The audio quality is excellent and rivals the results of some of the expensive recording hardware I have in my studio.

This is really great service but please correct my pronunciation and stress. I think my voice is not natural.

Very good!! Your pronunciation is quite good for a beginner/intermediate level learner. I recorded the message you included for you to hear with proper pronunciation and stress. Good luck and keep trying, you are doing a great job as English can be very difficult to SPEAK properly depending on what your native language is. I encounter this problem in my study of Arabic as many of the sounds are not natural to me. My advice is to not give up, you have clearly come a long way, and you will certainly reach your goal.

Hello Tarjeem,
Thank you for your help and advice.I try my best to speak fluently. I want to improve my english not only in speaking, but also in other skills.

Hello everyone,

My name is Tom. I would like to help you as you learn English. Please post a recorded message and I will assist you as much as I can.

Hi Tom,

Many thanks for your assistance ā€“ itā€™s great to have a professional voice specialist like you on board. Your voice message sounds brilliant. The only thing Iā€™d like to ask you is to turn the volume of your microphone up a little so the playback gets louder.

Regards,
Torsten[YSaerTTEW443543]

Hi Torsten,

Yes, I realized after I posted the recording that the volume was down too low. I have made some adjustments that should make a difference. When you have a minute, please let me know if the volume is at a better level.

Thanks again,

Tom

Itā€™s a great idea for all of us, we can hear somebody here and send own voice to others.itā€™s wonderful!

Hello to all those on English-Test.net,

I wanted to let you know, that if you do not have a microphone available, itā€™s okay. If you would still like to hear the proper way to pronounce a word, a phrase, or a sentence, please ā€œtypeā€ or post your request in this forum, and I will respond to you with a recorded message.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Tom

Hello to everyone on English-Test.net

This is Tom Kane talking. I have been speaking with Torsten and we hope that you will continue to check back on the recorded message forum and consider posting a message or a pronunciation request. I know that many of you may be uncomfortable with speaking the English language, but we are here to help you. So please, just leave a message or type your request, and we will respond to you.

Take care!

Hi Tom,

Thanks a lot for your latest message and your email about the navigation issue. You are right, at the moment the online voice recorder is very difficult to find especially since this is a feature nobody would expect on a forum like ours. Weā€™ve just counted all our forum posts that also contain a voice recording and so far there more than 123. The problem is that there are spread throughout the forum and if you donā€™t know that they are there you will never find them.

Thatā€™s why we are going to add a voice recorder link to our navigation panels as you suggested. Just to clarify a technical point: You can add a voice message to any text post in any area of the forum. In other words, the online voice recorder is available throughout the entire forum. However, itā€™s probably time to start a special voice recording subforum where we can design specific exercises for those forum members who want to practise their speaking and pronunciation skills.

The first step is create a text that our forum users need to read out loud. That way weā€™ll make it easer for them to get started because they donā€™t need to think about what they should say. Giving a free speech is much more difficult than reading a text.

More on that soon.
Regards,
Torsten
PS: The sound quality of all your forum recordings is excellent. The only thing Iā€™d like to ask is to increase the recording volume of your microphone even a little more.[YSaerTTEW443543]

Hi Torsten,

Thanks for getting back to me. Yeah, I really do think a separate ā€œVoice Recorderā€ link would be a big help, and a very big hit with those who are logged on.

Itā€™s funny you mentioned that we can record in the other areas of the site. I actually posted a few online recordings in the New ESL Member forum.

So, I have turned up my mic even more. Let me know how it sounds.

Thanks again, Torsten!

Tom

Hi Tom,

I think the volume of your recordings is fine now and we can hear you loud and clear. Yes, Iā€™ve listened to the other voice messages you have posted earlier today and Iā€™m sure a lot of our forum members will do so too.

Tomorrow Iā€™m going to set up a separate audio/pronunciation/phonetics forum by singling out all the threads that contain voice messages. Iā€™ll also ask Alan to write a text for our forum members to read out loud so you can give them feedback on their pronunciation.

Have a great day and talk to you soon.
Thanks,
Torsten[YSaerTTEW443543]

Hello,

Thank you for sending us your question. This is Tom Kane speaking. If you can, please type out a few words that you would like to pronounce better and I will respond back to you. There are many words that begin with ā€œPā€ or ā€œA.ā€ For example, the word ā€œPleaseā€ or the word ā€œApple.ā€ I am not sure what words you would like help with.

Also, what is your name? I hope to hear from you soon.

Tom
