Rebecca has not cooked the meat you had bought

Hello;

I would like to know the correct order when using both a modal and an auxiliary in a negative sentence. for example:

Sentence 1: Rebecca may not have cooked the meat you bought.

Sentence 2: Rebecca may have not cooked the meat you bought.

In fact, I am going to teach positive sentences, close questions (positive and negative questions), negative sentences and wh-questions. I noticed that most pupils are unable to deal with the scrambled sentences so I want my pupils to be amongst the best ones. the reason why i thought of teaching this item through using the word order.

I do not want to focus on the perfect tenses neither on the continuous ones.

Best regards,
Born4Jesus

I thank you ever so much Torsten so my sentences are all right.
I have put auxiliary + not when not using a moday. I mlean this one below.

Rebecca has not cooked the meat you bought.

Fine by me. It would also possible to use the past perfect in the second clause:

Rebecca has not cooked the meat you had bought.

Hello Torsten,

Please, I would mlike to know what kind pof exercises I could use so that my pupils like reading. Most of theml dislike reading. They are aged 14 and over.

For your information, I teach in junior secondary school and most pupils in our school cannot speak English. They are not concentrated and the parents are very oiften not involved into their education.

It is not easy but I am self confident. Then I really need your advice and help.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there, hope you are well @Born4Jesus. I’m also a high school teacher. I’m teaching English online from kids to adults.

This link has quite a few short stories https://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/short-stories
You will find a video clip, story page and an exercise sheet for each story.

Have a look at the stories…if you think it’s not suitable look at the teen page.

You can find different things to do here too. Have a look around

The other website you can try is https://engoo.com/app/materials/en

Just shout if you need anymore help. I’ll be glad to help

Take care, Andrea
