Especially in British English nouns like team or police are often treated as plurals. You might want to check this: The team was vs. the team were?

I think Real Madrid is treated as plural, and hence the use of the verb lose in plural instead of loses which is singular.
Cf: Australia beat Sri Lanka which means Sri Lanka lose to Australia.
