ratio vs rate

They are relative with percentage, and I don’t know how to tell them.

Thank you for your answers

A rate is one kind of ratio.

Ratio: the relation between two similar magnitudes with respect to the number of times the first contains the second; proportional relation.

Rate: a certain quantity or amount of one thing considered in relation to a unit of another thing and used as a standard or measure

could you please give me some examples so that I clarify them?

I had a photography teacher (Richard Stromberg at The Chicago Photography Center) tell me once that if you get one good shot on a roll of 36, you were doing good. That’s the ratio: 36:1.

When resting, the average adult human heart beats at about 70 bpm (males) and 75 bpm (females); however, this rate varies among people and can be significantly lower in endurance athletes.

I got it, thank you very much.
